Our Story

How We Met:

Our story begins in the summer of 2020.  Every July, my best friend, Anna and her family, go to a week-long camp called Catholic Family Land in Ohio.  This is a place that is full of fun and activities for the whole family and is well known within my community for making life-long friends and companions.  This year, Anna had invited me to come along with her, and she and I were so excited to share this week together.  Before we left, she said to me, “you’re probably going to meet your future husband here.”  I laughed because I thought she was joking, but now look at where we are.

After seeing Frankie a couple of times throughout the first few days and thinking, “wow, he’s cute,” we finally introduced ourselves over a game of Giant Jenga.  We instantly clicked.  For the rest of the week, he and I spent almost the entire time talking, laughing, and getting to know each other. We shared our past and our dreams of what we wanted in the future.  At the end of the week, I told him that if he ever made a trip to Chicago, he’s got a place to stay.  Before I even made it home, he was already planning a time he could come visit.  This was the beginning of what we didn’t know would be our happily ever after.

The Proposal:

Fast forward to 2022, we had been talking for months about how much we wanted to get married. Frankie had told me that he was hoping to propose sometime after I finished college in May.  One of our favorite dates we like to have is a candle-lit, home cooked meal with music.  We always lose track of time in the kitchen preparing a delicious meal with each other.  On this occasion of April 2nd, it had been a while since we had seen each other, and Frankie had insisted that we dress up extra fancy to make it a little more special.  That evening after enjoying our Italian-themed meal, we began to dance to one of our favorite songs.  During the whole song, Frankie had been expressing how much he loved me and how he couldn’t be happier to be with me.  He then started to pull away and reached for his pocket. I thought, “absolutely no way!”  He got down on one knee, opened the box to show me the most beautiful ring in the world, and asked me if I would do the honor of being by his side for the rest of our lives.  I was so absolutely in such disbelief and totally caught off guard that I couldn’t respond at first. Through my tears of joy, I said the biggest yes of my life. I felt my heart beat yes to him the moment my eyes first met his, and I am so thankful our hearts can share the journey of life together from this day forward.

Frankie Beckmeyer

Mary Jo is the most beautiful, outgoing, hardworking, faith-filled, and adventurous woman I have ever met. Throughout the past two years, we have both faced the toughest of times and experienced the sweetest of times hand in hand. These moments of growth have strengthened our love and have brought us closer together as a couple. I thank God for her every day and for the blessing she is in my life. As we enter into this holy vocation together, I couldn’t be more honored to be side-by-side foreverwith my Mary Josephine Maria Piper.

Mary Jo Piper

Francis Beckmeyer has the kindest heart and most beautiful soul I’ve ever known. He inspires me to be the best version of myself and never fails to bring me closer to God. He respects me, loves me, and most of all, he is always there for me even when I think I don’t need it. He’s my best friend, my teammate, my companion, the love of my life, and he will soon be my husband forever. I can’t ever thank God enough for bringing me Frankie, the most perfect person to spend the rest of my life with.
